About Us
Our Story

Founders, Rachel & Joseph Neves
Whaling City Transit is a family owned and operated transportation company, which has been servicing the Greater New Bedford and Fall River areas since 1972.
It was originally called Neves Bus Company after its founders, Rachel & Joseph Neves.
The business started with the vision of Rachel Neves of providing factory workers with affordable transportation to and from work. The Company grew from a single van servicing these workers at a rate of $3.00 per day to a fleet of over 125 vehicles and 140 employees.
In 1986 the company incorporated under the name Whaling City Transit and continues to expand at its two locations, but our vision of providing safe and affordable transportation remains the same.
Our Staff
Offering years of experience in the transportation industry, our knowledgeable and resourceful staff takes pride in providing the best possible customer service. All of our employees are carefully screened, well-trained and are required to have in-service training three times per year. We do pre-employment and random drug testing as well as CORI screening to assure the utmost in passenger safety.
Employee Training
Here at our facility drivers and monitors attend mandatory in-service training throughout the year and various topics are discussed. In addition, our wheelchair drivers and monitors are first aid certified.
